Let's be clear — this isn't an "About Us" page because, well... there's no "us." It's just me.

I'm Arnaud Knobloch — a father, a geek, and an entrepreneur based in France.

The Idea

Whoopal is the free community layer WHOOP doesn't offer — a leaderboard where you can rank your recovery, strain, sleep, and HRV against real athletes, weekly challenges to push you, and a dashboard to read your own trends. All built around the data your strap already gives you.

Why

I've been a big fan of Whoop for years. I love the data, what I learn from it, and the impact it's had on my health and performance. But like many users, I was frustrated when the latest Whoop sensors came out and made all my perfectly good 4.0 bands obsolete.

I built Whoopal — starting with a simple adapter to keep my old WHOOP 4.0 bands working with the new 5.0 and MG sensor, and growing into a community platform where WHOOP users compare recovery, strain, and sleep on a real leaderboard.

01Why did you build Whoopal?
When WHOOP launched the 5.0 and MG sensors in 2024, my entire collection of 4.0 bands became useless overnight. I'm a maker by nature, so I designed a mechanical adapter to bridge the gap rather than throw everything away. The adapter sold beyond my expectations, and I realized WHOOP users wanted more — so I built the leaderboard to let the community compare recovery, strain, and sleep in one public place.
02Is Whoopal affiliated with WHOOP Inc.?
No. Whoopal is an independent, community-run platform with no affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement from WHOOP Inc. WHOOP® is a registered trademark of WHOOP Inc. Whoopal uses WHOOP's official public API with each user's explicit consent to display their own data.
03Who can see my WHOOP data?
Only you and what you explicitly choose to make public on the leaderboard. As a solo-founder operation, there is no team browsing your data. Whoopal only fetches the metrics you authorize via WHOOP's OAuth flow, stores them encrypted, and never sells or shares them with third parties. You can disconnect and delete your data at any time from your profile settings.
04What's next for Whoopal?
The leaderboard and the adapter shop are live, but there's a lot more in the pipeline: group challenges, personal trend charts, new adapter designs for future WHOOP hardware, and deeper community features. Everything ships when it's solid — this is a side project I take seriously, not a VC-funded sprint.
